OU softball: Sooners win WCWS opener against Baylor

Like most softball players, Oklahoma junior Nicole Pendley is pretty expressionless when she takes the field with the No. 10-seed Sooners.

She's a determined blank slate, zoned in to the task at hand without showing even a hint of her inner monologue.

But when she stepped to the plate to face Baylor pitcher Kelsee Selman in OU's first game of the Women's College World Series, it's tough to think she wasn't grinning ever so slightly on the inside.

The last time she saw Selman, Pendley lit up the senior pitcher with a grand slam to give OU a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning of two teams' regular season finale.
