OU Softball: Sooners turn away North Dakota State second time around

The Sooners got a three-run home run from sophomore first baseman Shay Knighton to kick off the OU scoring in the opening inning. Another three run home run in the eighth inning, this one by Oklahoma’s home-run leader, Nicole Pendley, capped a four-run sixth that stretched the OU lead to 8-0, enabling the Sooners to shorten the game to six innings by run-rule.

Knighton and Pendley each went 3-for-4 at the plate, accounting for six of the Sooners’ 13 hits in the game and eight of the 10 runs.

North Dakota State first baseman Vanessa Anderson tagged a two-run home run off of Sooner starting pitcher Mariah Lopez in the bottom of the sixth inning to prevent a shutout.
