NORMAN — Oklahoma punched its ticket to the Women’s College World Series with an 8-0 win over Northwestern at Martina Hynes Field Saturday.
After winning two consecutive super regional games against the Wildcats, the No.1 seeded Sooners earned their 13th WCWS appearance in program history and eighth in the past nine years. No other team has made as many trips to Oklahoma City in that span.
OU scored first on a double by two-hole hitter Falepolima Aviu. The hard-hit ground ball squeaked through the left center field gap, giving Sydney Romero enough time to score from first.
