NORMAN — The tarp was pulled off Marita Hynes Field shortly after 1 p.m. Friday. That's when Scott Black and his grounds crew rushed into action.
Heavy morning rains had left OU's field in soggy shape. Three NCAA Tournament regional games still had to be played.
"This game would have never happened if we didn't have the best grounds crew and support staff," coach Patty Gasso said after OU's 4-0 win against Wisconsin. "They put on their rain boots and they were all out here, pushing water and blow drying everything they could."
The crew raked and replaced dirt along the warning track and on the infield leading up to first pitch at 3 p.
