As sophomore Sydney Romero rounded third and headed toward home to score her solo home run Friday night, she reached her right hand out toward coach Patty Gasso.
Both Romero and Gasso had their arms outstretched and their hands folded into a three with their pinky, ring and middle fingers up. Romero ran past her coach, the two celebrated with a modified high-five, grinning and bumping their threes together.
That celebration's been pretty common among the crimson-clad players — and among fans filling the stands — since Sarah Roberts, the Director of Women's Coaches for the Oklahoma Fellowship of Christian Athletes, brought the message from 2 Samuel 23 to the team during the Norman Regional.
