This is the first player the Sooners have gotten off the transfer portal since Corbin Merritt and Jamal Bieniemy announced their intentions to transfer from OU in recent weeks.
Gibson averaged 14.5 points, 1.9 assists and 2.2 rebounds per game for the Mean Green last season. He was second team all conference for Conference USA and shot 39.4 percent from 3-point range.
Gibson also scored 21 points in North Texas' 82-80 loss to OU on Dec. 5.
