WACO, TEXAS — When Trae Young entered the court at the Ferrell Center on Tuesday night, a lone Baylor fan sitting near the tunnel rose and pointed his index finger in the Oklahoma star's general direction in about as unthreatening a manner possible.
“Welcome to Waco, Trae Young,” the fan droned. “Welcome to Waco.”
Off the court, the atmosphere at the not-close-to-full arena was about as unthreatening as Young had faced since becoming a college basketball phenomenon.
On the court, though, the Bears made it next-to-impossible for Young to work.
After a brief flash of life, things quickly sank for Young and the Sooners, as the Bears blew out the Sooners 87-64 and at least made the Sooners squirm as it relates to their NCAA Tournament hopes going into Friday's regular-season finale against Iowa State.
