The Sooners finished with a 72-hole team score of 1176, 24 strokes over par and 38 back of Big 12 champion Texas, which shot a conference championship record-low round of 15-under par on the final day to claim its fourth straight Big 12 golf crown.
The Longhorn team wasn’t the only one breaking records in the conference championship held at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Trinity, Texas.
The Sooners’ Hirschmann set a tournament and course record with a nine-under-par 63 in the third round on Saturday. His record-setting round consisted of eight birdies and an eagle. That is the lowest round in Big 12 Championship history and also ties a school record for the lowest score for 18 holes.
