Oklahoma center Ty Darlington was presented the Bobby Bowden Award by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at a luncheon Tuesday at the Petroleum Club.
The award, named after the former Florida State coaching great, is presented annually to a Football Bowl Subdivision football player who epitomizes a student-athlete.
"He must conduct himself as a faith model in the classroom, on the field, on the campus and in the community," according to award criteria. Nominees must carry a 3.0 grade-point average.
Other finalists were Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott and Arkansas running back Johnathan Williams.
Darlington, an All-Big 12 second-team center on the Oklahoma team that reached the College Football Playoff semifinals, was named to the Capital One Academic All-American first team.
