OU football: Trey Sermon 'looking forward to what’s next' after three seasons with Sooners

NORMAN — OU’s running back depth took a hit Saturday.

Trey Sermon, the Sooners’ leading rusher over the last three seasons, announced on Twitter that he was entering the NCAA’s transfer portal.

Sermon will be a graduate transfer and have immediate eligibility.

“I’ve enjoyed my three years as a Sooner and am looking forward to what’s next,” Sermon posted on Twitter.

Sermon ran for 2,076 yards and 22 touchdowns during three years with the Sooners. He added three receiving touchdowns as well.

His best season came in 2018 when he ran for 947 yards and 13 touchdowns and had 12 catches for 181 yards.
