NORMAN — Had the coronavirus pandemic not shuttered the sports world, OU football’s spring game would have been played Saturday.
The annual game has become a big event in recent years, with a fan fest, pre-game concert and more. But the spring game might have been most important as a recruiting tool, as it has become the centerpiece of one of the Sooners’ biggest recruiting weekends of the year.
“Obviously, the spring game has become a big, big deal for us from a recruiting standpoint,” OU coach Lincoln Riley said. “We had probably as many top prospects as we’ve ever had, probably more that were lined up this spring, whether it was unofficially for a practice or officially for the spring game.
