OU football: Sooners excel in snowy conditions to whack West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Just before kickoff, snow swirled like a tourist-shop globe. Like one of those snow machines on the Broadway stage. Mountaineer Field turned white within a few minutes, and you wondered if the Sooners would find the same trouble in the Alleghenies that college football powers found on a frigid college football Saturday.

Michigan struggled with Indiana, and Ohio State squeaked by Michigan State, both by seeing, when not holding, their breath. An ice rink was the last thing the ninth-ranked Sooners needed to make a statement.

Or so we thought. But OU put its video-game attack into mothballs and let its cold-weather offense take over.
