NORMAN — Lincoln Riley sounds a bit like Jerry Maguire when he talks about the importance of on-campus football camps in the recruiting process.
Like the Tom Cruise character told Rod Tidwell in the movie, Riley said more personal attention is the difference in the string of camps that began Saturday for Riley and his staff.
While certainly the camps help the Sooners identify talent, they’re also meant to provide instruction and exposure to other schools for players not at that level.
“Say your kid’s not a top-level Division-I (talent) and instead you can come here and get some true, kind of a little bit more personalized one-on-one work with these schools,” Riley said recently.
