NORMAN — Just a few weeks after arriving at Oklahoma as an early enrollee in January, Derek Green was struggling.
Both at the school halfway across the country from where the defensive tackle grew up in North Carolina and with issues at home, Green wanted a change.
“It was nothing that the University of Oklahoma or the football team have done,” Green told The Oklahoman this week. “It was just stuff happening to me personally. I do wish Sooner nation the best of luck.”
His father laid it out plainly to him — if he left school to come back home, his father said he would need to join the military.
