OU football: Several Sooners taken off redshirt watch

NORMAN – Several Sooners can be taken off redshirt watch. Oklahoma played its fifth game of the season Saturday, a 66-33 win against Baylor. Players with redshirts available who appeared in their fifth contest are now ineligible to redshirt.

Four OU true freshmen have reached the five-game plateau: running back T.J. Pledger, defensive end Ronnie Perkins, linebacker DaShaun White and nickelback Brendan Radley-Hiles.

College football’s new redshirt rule allows players to participate in up to four games and still redshirt and maintain an extra year of eligibility. We’ll monitor how the Sooners are using the rule each week in our redshirt tracker.
