NORMAN — Sitting on a couch in the Omni Dallas last month during Big 12 Media Days, Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine seemed content to let Baker Mayfield take the spotlight.
Mayfield, the Sooners' quarterback, did a television interview while Perine and the two other players in the OU contingent — Jordan Evans and Ahmad Thomas — relaxed.
But then Perine did something that would've been incredible just a few months ago for the player who's almost sure to become Oklahoma's career leader in rushing yards this season.
Perine stood up and walked around the cameraman and behind Mayfield, stopping to flex his biceps and flash a big grin toward the camera.
