NORMAN — Safety Robert Barnes started eight games for Oklahoma as a sophomore last year, but the junior is a candidate to redshirt this season, coach Lincoln Riley said Monday.
"We'll kind of see how this things unfolds," Riley said. "Probably gonna be one of those week-to-week things for us ... It's something he's considering doing right now."
Barnes has played in four games this season. Players can participate in up to four games and still maintain redshirt eligibility.
Barnes sat out the season opener against Houston and wasn't suited up last Saturday against Texas.
The 6-foot-2 safety from Southlake, Texas has five tackles this season.
