Three Oklahoma offensive linemen made their starting debuts Saturday against Akron, with two playing their first collegiate snaps.
Redshirt freshman Orlando Brown and true freshman Dru Samia started at the tackle spots while sophomore Jonathan Alvarez started at left guard in the Sooners' 41-3 win.
“It was a crazy experience,” Samia said. “Everyone says 85,000 fans but there's absolutely no way to put it into words. It was a completely different feeling than I've had in my life. It was great.”
Brown and Alvarez were expected to start, with Samia a bit of a surprise, though offensive line coach Bill Bedenbaugh had been high on the freshman from Sacramento, Calif.
