OU football notebook: Sooners conduct first scrimmage

Oklahoma’s football team held its first scrimmage of the 2015 preseason Saturday morning on Owen Field.

The scrimmage, which was closed to the public and media, went about 90 minutes.

According to a recap on the school’s official website, highlights included a touchdown pass from Trevor Knight to redshirt freshman tight end Mark Andrews; a 75-yard touchdown catch-and-run by running back Daniel Brooks after a Baker Mayfield pass; and an impressive interception by sophomore cornerback Jordan Thomas, who was covering the much-taller Jeffery Mead.

Regarding the ongoing quarterback battle between Knight, Mayfield and sophomore Cody Thomas, offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley said in the recap that all three played well Saturday.
