NORMAN — Late in Saturday's 44-24 Oklahoma win over West Virginia, Sooners center Ty Darlington looked across at West Virginia defensive tackle Nick Rose and both shook their heads.
“What is an illegal wedge?” they asked each other.
The unusual penalty against Oklahoma on a late third-quarter kickoff was one of several that left not only Darlington and Rose, but plenty of others, shaking their heads.
The teams combined to be flagged for 23 penalties and 245 yards. On one drive in the second quarter, the Sooners were flagged four times for 45 yards.
