Former Oklahoma defensive coordinator Mike Stoops was interviewed Wednesday on WWLS-FM 98.1/The Sports Animal in his first public comments since being fired Monday.
Stoops came on the show with former OU defensive lineman Dusty Dvoracek, who played for Stoops during the coach's first stint in Norman.
Here's the full transcript:
On what led to his firing: "Well, I think everything kind of came to a head Saturday. Our inability to play a level of football that Oklahoma should expect. And ultimately that fell on me. That was tremendously hard. I have so much respect for this program, all the players that have played in it, for Lincoln, the administration and just didn't get it done.
