OU football: Lincoln Riley reacts to Nick Saban's Power Five scheduling pitch

NORMAN — Alabama dismantled New Mexico State on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. A few hours later, Oklahoma hung 70 points on South Dakota.

New Mexico State is a perennial FBS bottom feeder. South Dakota is an average squad in the lower FCS ranks.

Nick Saban has a solution to avoid such lopsided results.

“I’d rather play 10 SEC games and then play two other Power Five schools so all the games are exciting for the fans, all the games are good football,” the Alabama coach told reporters after his team’s 62-10 victory.

“You wouldn’t have to go undefeated to get in the playoffs because you’d play a more quality schedule,” Saban continued.
