Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray has apologized after homophobic tweets he made in 2011 and 2012 resurfaced Saturday night, shortly after he won the Heisman Trophy.
"I apologize for the tweets that have come to light tonight from when I was 14 and 15," Murray tweeted at 2:11 a.m. Sunday. "I used a poor choice of word that doesn’t reflect who I am or what I believe. I did not intend to single out any individual or group."
The old tweets, in which he used an anti-gay slur several times, have since been deleted.
