OU football: Kicker competition cloudy heading into Kansas game

NORMAN — It's not clear which kicker Oklahoma will turn to Saturday at Kansas.

Sophomore walk-on Calum Sutherland was OU's starting kicker through its first three games. Sutherland made 2 of 4 field goal attempts while going 23 for 23 on extra points.

Sutherland served an apparent suspension last Saturday against Texas Tech following his arrest for public intoxication the weekend prior.

In Sutherland's place, redshirt freshman Gabe Brkic, who also handles kickoff duties, made both of his field goal tries against Texas Tech. Brkic was 7 for 7 on extra points.

"As far as reopening it, it's always kind of open," coach Lincoln Riley said of the kicking competition.
