OU football journal: Riley says there are no ‘tune-up’ games in the Big 12

Oklahoma offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley rejected out of hand the idea that the next two games — against Big 12 bottom dwellers Kansas and Iowa State — are “tune-up” games for the Sooners' rough three-game stretch to end the season.

“Nope,” Riley said. “I'm gonna try like hell to beat Kansas this week. Everybody wants to make it think like that, but that's a dream world. These guys have got scholarship players. They've got good coaches.

“That's a dream world. If we live in that world, then we'll get beat.”

STOOPS FEELS FOR MANGINO

Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops called his old friend Mark Mangino's departure from Iowa State “unfortunate” and said he was sad to hear about it.
