OU football journal: Baker Mayfield finds stability

NORMAN — Baker Mayfield spent the 2012 football season quarterbacking Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. He spent the 2013 season at Texas Tech, where he started seven games for coach Kliff Kingsbury.

In 2014, Mayfield sat out as a transfer at OU, with an offense coordinated by Josh Heupel. In 2015, Mayfield quarterbacked the Sooners to the Orange Bowl, with an offense coordinated by Lincoln Riley.

So now, Mayfield has the same coordinator two years in a row for the first time in four seasons. Riley says some year-to-year stability should help Mayfield “especially from a terminology standpoint.
