NORMAN — Alex Grinch has emphasized the need for more defensive depth, so Oklahoma's defensive coordinator went to the wide receivers room and plucked somebody away from a position group that can spare to lose a player.
Redshirt freshman Jaquayln Crawford came to OU from Rockdale, Texas, where he was a consensus four-star receiver prospect. After one redshirt season, Crawford is now listed as OU's newest cornerback.
Grinch and cornerbacks coach Roy Manning saw something in Crawford, and approached the offensive staff.
"I couldn’t tell you where he was on the depth chart," Grinch said, "but you just see a guy with speed, the ability to track footballs and those things.
