Jamelle Holieway held the previous record. Holieway rushed for 98 yards in the first quarter against Missouri in 1985.
The Sooners averaged 16.1 yards per play in the first quarter against the Bruins.
Hurts had runs of 52 and 30 yards on OU's first drive. The latter went for a score.
