NORMAN — College football has some incredible rivalries, and Jalen Hurts is about to make the list of historic rivalry games he’s played in one longer.
Hurts is no stranger to great rivalries. The Oklahoma quarterback has played in the Iron Bowl, the Third Saturday in October (Alabama-Tennessee) and the Red River Showdown. When he takes the field Saturday for Bedlam, it will be the latest and last rivalry game of his college career.
Hurts played in Alabama’s biggest rivalry game three times, and the Crimson Tide went 2-1 against Auburn. He led Alabama to a win in 2016, a loss in 2017, and he wasn't the starter in 2018 (but he did throw a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter) He got into the spirit of the Iron Bowl — even making a bet with Auburn basketball alum Charles Barkley — but neither Alabama-Auburn nor Oklahoma-Oklahoma State was the big rivalry game he grew up watching.
