OU football: Jalen Hurts is third-straight OU quarterback to be named Heisman finalist, following Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray

NORMAN — Unlike the two players who preceded him as the Sooners’ quarterback, Jalen Hurts never talked about standing on a stage in New York hoisting the Heisman Trophy.

Kyler Murray, last year’s winner, talked about it being a lifelong dream to win the iconic trophy.

Baker Mayfield, who won in 2017, also wanted to take home the award.

But like Mayfield and Murray before him, Hurts is heading to the Big Apple.

Monday night, Hurts was named a Heisman Trophy finalist.

The Sooners have had a player finish in the top five for five consecutive seasons now and a finalist for four-straight years.
