NORMAN — Oklahoma and South Dakota will play Saturday night in a matchup neither side sought out.
The Sooners were scheduled to face another school this weekend in Norman.
“We were waiting on the contract to be signed and they had a last-minute change of heart and decided to play someone else for whatever reason,” OU athletic director Joe Castiglione told The Oklahoman. “It happens in the crazy world of scheduling. More things happen than people would ever believe.”
Castiglione declined to identify the school that backed out, but he confirmed it was an FBS program.
