NORMAN — Oklahoma kicker Gabe Brkic is a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Thursday.
The award is given annually to the best collegiate place kicker. Brkic is one of 20 semifinalists.
The redshirt freshman was the first Sooner to make four field goals in a game since 2011, when he made all four of his attempts in Oklahoma's loss to Kansas State. Brkic is 10-for-10 on field goals for the season, with a career long kick of 50 yards.
A panel of FBS coaches, SIDs, media members, former finalists and and NFL kickers will vote to select three finalists.
