NORMAN — Gabe Brkic seemingly came out of nowhere.
A redshirt freshman, he didn’t start the season, and didn’t see the field until after former Sooner Calum Sutherland was arrested for public intoxication. But now, Brkic has been solid as a rock for Oklahoma, in a position that might be more crucial if the Sooners keep finding themselves in close games like the last two.
Kicking was one of the only areas Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley had nothing but positive things to say after the game against Kansas State.
“He may have been our best player on the whole field,” Riley said.
