NORMAN — Early in Bob Stoops' tenure at Oklahoma, it seemed as if he was destined to leave.
Stoops would depart for Ohio State thanks to his ties to his home state. Or he'd head to Florida to take over for his mentor, Steve Spurrier. Or he'd go to the Cleveland Browns not only to head back home but also to try his hand in the NFL. Or Stoops would go to Notre Dame or the Dallas Cowboys or any other job that's been open since Stoops took the Sooners to the 2000 national title.
But Tuesday, Stoops will sit behind the microphone at Big 12 Media Days for the 18th time.
