OU football: D.J. Ward finding stability on Sooners defense

NORMAN — After the 2011 football season at Lawton High, D.J. Ward looked like he could be a standout pass rusher in college.

Ward was dominant for the Wolverines, recording 75 tackles and 11 sacks as a junior and made The Oklahoman's All-State team — the only junior to do so that year.

But since leaving Lawton after that season, Ward's football career has been marked by a near constant state of transition.

Now a junior defensive end for Oklahoma, Ward is hoping he's finally finding some stability.

Ward transferred from Lawton, first to Douglass and then to Southmoore, where he was deemed ineligible by the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association after a hardship waiver was denied.
