NORMAN — While Oklahoma has had plenty of recruiting momentum lately, its 2020 class took a bit of a hit Saturday morning when cornerback Dontae Manning announced his decision to decommit from the Sooners.
Manning, the No. 36 cornerback in the class, said he’d still consider the Sooners. History, though, shows that a player who withdraws his commitment from OU most often ends up signing elsewhere.
Of the 22 players who have decommitted from the Sooners over the last five recruiting classes that have signed, 19 signed elsewhere. Three — Parrish Cobb in 2016, CeeDee Lamb in 2017 and Theo Wease in 2019 — eventually signed with Oklahoma.
