NORMAN — Center Creed Humphrey and safety Pat Fields will be the Sooners' captains this year, the official OU football Twitter account announced Thursday.
The Sooners open their season Saturday at home against Missouri State.
Humphrey, a redshirt junior from Shawnee, was a second-team All-American last season and a finalist for the Rimington Trophy which honors the top center in college football. Humphrey was one of four captains last season.
Fields, a junior from Tulsa, started all 14 games at free safety a year ago and had 64 tackles.
The captains were chosen by a vote of the players.
