OU football: Cooks wants defensive backs to remain fresh

NORMAN — Kerry Cooks wants Oklahoma's defensive backs to be fresher this season.

“I want to get to the point where, when you are playing those offenses like Baylor where you are taking 100-plus snaps a game, I'd like to have four guys or maybe five that I can rotate and roll in,” Cooks said Thursday at Belmar Golf Club. “If I can get 15-20 plays from, let's just say, Parnell (Motley), a Parrish Cobb or a P.J. (Mbanasor), that takes 15 less plays off Dakota (Austin) and Jordan (Thomas).

“It means those guys can continue to play at 100 percent for the 60 plays, 70 plays that they play.
