AMES, Iowa — While his teammates cranked up the music in the visitors' locker room at Jack Trice Stadium on Thursday night, Oklahoma wide receiver Jeffery Mead sought out the quietest place he could find.
In the lull before the No. 14-ranked Sooners ran through the formal pregame warmup, Mead found solace on OU's bench, just a few feet from where he would soon dazzle the crowd with a series of spin moves into the end zone in the Sooners' 34-24 win against Iowa State.
“I just felt like reading today,” Mead said. “I had 25 minutes to sit there and do nothing, so I was like, why not?
