NORMAN — Brendan Radley-Hiles isn’t admitting to disappointment or defeat.
“Nothing’s a loss,” the sophomore defensive back said. “It’s wins and lessons.”
That’s just one of several sayings Radley-Hiles turned to Monday when reflecting on his freshman season.
“Every play is a fresh start,” he said, using another.
Radley-Hiles, nicknamed “Bookie,” might be the OU defensive player most in need of a fresh start. He arrived from IMG Academy, a football factory in Bradenton, Florida, as a top-50 overall prospect and the fifth-ranked cornerback in the 2018 class, according to 247Sports.
Radley-Hiles started 11 games at safety and nickelback last season, but he was benched ahead of the Big 12 Championship game after a particularly poor performance at West Virginia — a game in which OU allowed 56 points and more than 500 passing yards.
