NORMAN — Lincoln Riley could hardly believe what he was seeing.
Sitting in the passenger seat of Cale Gundy’s truck after leaving Colleyville (Texas) Heritage in early 2018, Riley was looking for one of the final pieces of his February signing class.
And in Brayden Willis, Riley was seeing a player who checked all the boxes.
Willis played at nearby Arlington James Martin but had been pretty lightly recruited. But one of Heritage’s coaches told Riley and Gundy that they should give a look to Willis.
Gundy drove while Riley pulled up Willis’ video. At stoplights, Riley would show his phone to Gundy to check out the highlights.
