NORMAN — Brayden Willis had a clear path to Josh Growden.
The Oklahoma H-Back sprinted untouched toward the West Virginia punter and batted the kick down. Mountaineers coach Neal Brown admitted to miscommunication on the play.
The ball bounced toward the back of the north end zone, where freshman tight end Austin Stogner jumped on it for a touchdown.
The special teams score extended OU’s lead to 49-14 in the third quarter.
As Willis blocked the punt, Sooner coach Lincoln Riley leapt into the air.
“It’s the one thing that offensive and defensive players do together,” Riley said of special teams.
