OU football: Allegations against suspended Sooners' kicker Calum Sutherland detailed

NORMAN — A petition for a protective order was filed against suspended OU football player Calum Sutherland by his ex-girlfriend in Cleveland County court on Thursday.

An emergency protective order was issued, and a hearing has been set for Nov. 8. The kicker was suspended indefinitely from the Sooners in early October.

In the petition for the protective order, the victim alleged Sutherland hit her with his belt and choked her on Sept. 21. Sutherland was arrested on Sept. 21 on public intoxication charges. The affidavit from the arrest said Sutherland got into a “short physical and verbal altercation” with the victim, and the officer did not observe any injuries on her.
