NORMAN — Count Alex Grinch among those who let out a sigh of relief after the Sooners’ season opener against Missouri State was finished.
“It is nice to have one game under the belt and say a football game broke out here at 6 o’clock tonight,” the OU defensive coordinator said.
That wasn’t a certainty for a long time, and certainly not in the 36 hours before the game when the Sooners’ number of available players was close to dipping below the Big 12 guidelines for postponing games.
The Sooners were able to play, though, and dominated with a 48-0 drubbing of the Bears.
