NORMAN — Christian James’ buzzer beater in Kansas City was, in many ways, a cruel conclusion to his Big 12 career.
The Oklahoma senior guard, who slumped through the conference slate, had made a game-tying shot under the Sprint Center lights. It should’ve been cause for celebration. But his right toe had crept over the 3-point line.
Instead of going to overtime with West Virginia in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament, James and the Sooners headed home with a 1-point loss.
Even in the make, James had missed. But there will be chance for redemption this week as the final seconds tick from his four-year career.
