LUBBOCK, Texas — The best player on the floor took over in the final five minutes.
Oklahoma senior guard Christian James holds that title on most nights, but Tuesday night in Lubbock it was reserved for Texas Tech sophomore guard Jarrett Culver.
Culver scored three baskets in the final five minutes to push the No. 8 Red Raiders to a 66-59 win over the No. 23 Sooners at United Supermarkets Arena.
Culver, a projected lottery pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, scored a game-high 23 points on 8 of 13 shooting with 13 rebounds.
OU freshman Jamal Bieniemy drilled a 3-pointer with 38 seconds left to cut Texas Tech's lead to 62-59, but the Red Raiders iced the game from the free throw line.
