OU basketball: Longtime trainer Alex Brown to retire

Alex Brown's 32nd season with the Oklahoma men's basketball program will be his last.

The longtime trainer announced his retirement Monday.

"I'm ready to unlace my sneakers," Brown said in a release. "What a ride it's been. I've been extremely fortunate to work with the best coaches, student-athletes, team physicians and athletic trainers in the country here at OU."

Brown arrived in Norman in 1987. He's worked with three Final Four teams and four head coaches: Billy Tubbs, Kelvin Sampson, Jeff Capel and Lon Kruger.

"I never imagined my career here would be as fun and fulfilling (and lengthy) as it's been," Brown said.
