Oklahoma basketball coach Lon Kruger will receive this season's Legends of Coaching Award. It was announced Tuesday at the Wooden Award Tip-Off Luncheon in Los Angeles.
Kruger is entering his eighth season at OU. He has 33 years of collegiate coaching on his resume.
The Legends of Coaching Award is based on character, on-court success, graduation rate and coaching philosophy.
The award was created in 1999 and it's honored legends of the sport: Geno Auriemma, Jim Boeheim, Jim Calhoun, Billy Donovan, Tom Izzo, Mike Krzyzewski, Lute Olson, Bill Self, Dean Smith, Pat Summit and Roy Williams.
