NORMAN — Jamal Bieniemy's running 3-pointer at the buzzer Monday night initially seemed inconsequential, but it turned out to be a remarkably bad beat for some bettors.
Bieniemy's last-second shot flipped what would have been a 75-71 Iowa State win to a 75-74 Iowa State win. The Cyclones were a 3-point favorite and the over/under Monday night was 146.5.
Bieniemy's shot — leading to an OU cover and pushing the total to the over — altered both bets.
And it likely should not have counted. Photos show the ball is still in Bieniemy's hands when the backboard lights up red.
