NORMAN — Christian James is the newest member of Oklahoma's 1,000-point club.
The senior guard needed 17 points Wednesday to cross the threshold. James scored 20 points on 5 of 12 shooting in OU's 74-61 loss against Kansas State.
“It's a great honor to reach that milestone and just be a part of OU's history books,” James said Thursday. “I always thought this point in time would come, but it's a different feeling when it actually happens. I want to keep going. I want to see how many milestones I can reach.”
James is the 45th Sooner to reach 1,000 career points and the eighth to do so under Lon Kruger, joining Buddy Hield (2,291), Jordan Woodard (1,440), Steven Pledger (1,392), Isaiah Cousins (1,326), Cameron Clark (1,284), Ryan Spangler (1,087) and Andrew Fitzgerald (1,086).
